ARDEX NEW ZEALAND LTD

Course: LMR
Name: Peter Lau

The practical management tools that can be used in the workplace to improve team results and performance.

Course: LMR
Name: Peter McCarthy

The course is a great prompting and organizational tool. But only as good as the operator! It is important for me to continue referring to it and embracing it. It is also important for my staff to understand and embrace the LMA principals or I may just get frustrated. Peers and superiors also need to embrace it and make it the ARDEX way. ( I am not confident of that ) but I am perhaps in the best position to grow the principals both upwards and downwards within my organization. Saying that, I can draw a direct line between my teams success and growth, with the implementation of each principal and tool from the course. We are by far the best performed sales team in NZ because of that!

The most important aspect for me was determining what my leadership style is. Then using the LMR information to fine tune what I believe works well for me and my team. I now have a concise idea of what goals are, which initially were a “oh no not that stuff”. I now have mini goals which help me to measure these and get some practice in putting them into place then acting on them. The workshops helped me gather an assorted range of information on how others Manage and how very similar the situations are that we work in although our businesses are poles apart.

Using a goal planner I was able to develop effective tools to extract and utilise information quickly reducing the time to analyse information from 8 hours per week to 3 hours per week. I have developed a training manual to so that other staff can be trained in the daily management of ERP processes.

It has certainly opened my eyes on how to action things with my mentor being able to assist in many ways to help me. I have always had goals but not worked on them in this way. Certainly not as many in a business environment. I would like to set more personal goals in conjunction with my partner and family and is something I will look in to. Understanding how to deal with certain personality types or how they deal with situations is a big help. Making the team function more effectively is a goal for the next 6 months and how to develop them personal as well should be an exciting challenge for me. The main goals I set myself have had to change due to other events happening which directly affected my action steps. These have been re-evaluated and need to loom in to new dates for action steps.

The part I enjoyed the most was the colours and the hats. I found it easy to understand what Jackie was trying to get across because it was interactive. I feel Jackie made the environment comfortable so that we all felt we could express ourselves openly. I have made enormous changes to the way I communicate especially with management. This was one of my win/win goals. I have had huge personal growth thru this course.

Enjoyed the workshop sessions/interactions with course attendees. Set good goals and made good progress towards them. Good personal goals set and achieved. Good reminder of work/life balance. Successfully tendered the Tile Warehouse RFP using many of the tools/skills learnt during the course. Developed and comprehensive new product sales plan. Managed to delegate a number of tasks. Improved my time management making me more effective and productive.

Through this well facilitated and planned course I have personally gained better communication skills and planning techniques that have given me better sales outcomes that will add significant financial gains in the future. My team are benefiting considerably from the use of some of the business forms and techniques that I have shared. I would recommend this course and in particular Michael Carding as the facilitator for any one that is looking to grow their business through personal and professional development.

I have been given the tools to improve my sales edge. My skills as a salesman have improved. However it is now up to me to make the commitment to continue the improvement, by regularly reviewing the course material. If the books stay in the cupboard, the investment that my company has made in me would be, not wasted, but they will not be getting the return on investment that they should expect. I will be encouraging my managers to allocate time for regular review of the course, so that I can improve my personal performance and grow sales for my company, hopefully the techniques will rub off on other staff.

I have been in sales for many years and have always worked on the respect factor with my customers. LMA took this to another level in helping me to define the difference between real obstacles and perceived ones that various customers can pose. I believe that my presentations have improved (internal belief) due to the LMA learning of do my home work. Although I have had some significant changes in my role & work place I believe that the learning through LMA has helped me plan better by the day regardless of my schedule. The major goal I have achieved is an improved use of my time relative to my territory and the ability to choose how I plan my time.
