BORAL LIMITED

Course: COL
Name: Catherine Quin

The willingness of the group to share experiences has been fantastic and has increased the learning opportunities from the course. Getting different perspectives from others in similar situations is invaluable. Understanding the importance of setting goals and being given guidance of doing this has proven far more important than I ever thought. This simple tool has given some real structure to almost every task we have undertaken. The main achievement I have seen from completing this course is the change to my team. They have gone on this journey with me and have proven not only willing but keen to make our own changes to what we do. This increased confidence and belief my team has in itself as a directive result of some simple changes given to me throughout the LMA journey is beyond anything I could have hoped for. THANK YOU!!!

I learned a lot more about myself than I expected to. learning how to schedule time to understand what I want to achieve has been one of many valuable tools. Paul is able to read people very clearly and delivered the course to a variety of personalities and levels of understanding in a way that makes people comfortable and at ease. I feel more confident now that I can deal with what life or work throws at me. I like learning and will continue to improve in many different areas of my life. I now know how to talk less and say more.

Course: COL
Name: Adrian Smith

I really enjoyed Paul’s way of teaching. It was open, enjoyable and easy to relate to. I found that with such an environment it was easy for me to be more open and even volunteer for practical exercises. Communication was a big problem for me but I find it a lot easier now

Course: COL

Working with Paul is always stimulating. He has an ability to take you out of your comfort zone, into a learning zone and then assist this to be comfortable. He captivates the audience and assists them to discover their own solutions. They can then share and discuss with others in the group to consolidate the growth for each individual. I also like the affirmation he gave me for my views.

Course: COL

I have learnt good time management skills which I use every day. I now do far more delegating then I have ever done before

Course: COL
Name: Brian Madden

I started this course thinking it was just going to be another course just like most of the other that I had done. I realised quite quickly that this course was going to push me outside of my comfort zone and actually make me drive myself to get the results I wanted. This course was a great way for me to learn that I what get out of something is a direct result of how much as I was willing to put into it. This course challenged me to stop thinking of the excuses of why and couldn’t do something and to start finding the solutions to over come the challenges that I was facing. Through learning why and how to set goals I have been able to achieve more than I thought I could. I was also quite surprised at how much I learnt that I could not only use through out my career but also in my personal life. This course has been very enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone that is looking at becoming a leader not only at work but in their personal life also.

I enjoyed reading the text and the discussions we had in class as we were go through the assignments. Our Facilitator was very knowledgeable provided great ideas and promoted exchange of ideas from each other in class. I also learnt a lot from completing all the assignments and the work place project. Some Measurable results – More confident in leading people. The importance of training and developing my team. Not been afraid to delegate. Goals – How to Set realistic goals that are achievable. Get team involved as striving to spend as much time as possible on HPA’s. Achieving the Win Win agreement goals. Having Developed Trust with Employees and respect for one another. Getting to know my team members better. Using some of the tools and Questionnaires provided with my team. Gave me good feedback that helped me determine where we need to be.

Course: COL
Name: Barry Chater

Firstly – the most enjoyable aspect was having Lars Weber and my course facilitator, he truly has a very special ability to communicate course material whilst keeping it enjoyable and productive and most importantly he has a GENUINE belief in each one of his students and takes thing to the personal level by being always available and approachable and a great degree of knowledge in which he is freely sharing amongst our time together. Some measurable results – my main course project brought together a very much needed “credit claim system” and the course content gave me ideas, solutions and practical workflows and solutions to enable the accomplishment of my project. Other modules were very timely for me being that I was going through and amalgamation of a National credit hub into NSW and certain modules like the “change initiative, dealing with conflict, setting stretch goals, training and motivational plans, monitoring and providing feedback and creating a “High Performance Team” Last but not least – Lars Weber is a truly a credit to your organisation of LMA and very positive ambassador as it is very clear to see for all that he once again has a GENUINE LOVE for teaching and his students. Absolute pleasure to deal with and has had a ” very positive influence” on me.

Paul, has explained the basis of this course in ways that can be implemented not just in business but in your personal life as well. this have change me as a person and therefore many ideas we shared at the start of the course (and I though I would never do) actually are taking lace without me even thinking about it. I have changed as a person not just as a leader in my business

Course: COL
Name: Ross Manning

The most enjoyable part of this course would be the relaxing environment that was created for all participants during the entire course. The facilitator was very good at explaining things to the group and kept the course from becoming boring and a great group of people to be learning with. My goals and achievements that took place were varied but the ones that I really wanted to achieve was to be able to manage my time better and delegate duties to others more. This I have achieved far better than I expected to and has made my job a lot easier to the point that I now have time to complete my work almost everyday. This course has made my job so much easier that I would recommend to anyone that they take this course. You learn to deal with all aspects of being a manager of people. I have learnt to listen to people to encourage others and how to lead people through different situations.

Course: COL

The workplace project was my biggest achievement this was very valuable to me as I was able to put together a project that I had been talking about for a long time prior, having the project as part of my course allowed me to achieve a result!

I found the LMA course to be a blast and was one of the greatest courses I have completed as it gave me all the knowledge I needed to pull myself out of my dead-end desk and move to bigger and better things. I have learnt a lot of new people skills and how to expect my team to act when I try and do the things I do.

Course: COL
Name: Stirling Chaning-Pearce

The biggest achievement for me was actually completing the modules, and especially the completion of my Project and presentation. It was also great to learn valuable skills and techniques that I can use back in my workplace.

Course: COL
Name: Barry Thorburn

The most enjoyable aspect of the course is the interaction with coach Patricia Hill. Patricia has the experience and understanding to make this course a pleasure to be involved with. The experience gained through the coaching of Patricia Hill will be an asset to any business.

Course: COL
Name: Omar El Komy

What I like about the course was the friendly atmosphere available that encouraged participation and active discussion. To me, going to the course was about making it to the fortnightly class, meeting with the other guys in the group and learning while having a good time. For me, what I have been able to achieve most is tap into my emotional intelligence skills, becoming an active listener and understand people better. I still have a long way to go but I have certainly made a good start on it.

Course: COL
Name: Debra Henderson

Camille explained the course and each section very concisely and clearly which made each module easy to complete and understand. I also enjoyed the groups input at each class and the insights they provided, the whole course was enjoyable and has assisted in my personal and professional development.

Course: COL

The things I most wanted to get out of this course are the most prevalent. It goes to show that you really do get out what you put in. I have always struggled with the human interaction portion of my job as I can tend to be quite analytical and come across as harsh and uncaring which is certainly not the case. I believe that LMA has given me some great tools to be able to manage my people better and get the most from my team. I am happier in my job and so are my team. A culture of continuous improvement is just the way we do things around here but without the right motivation it can become disjointed and counter productive. Motivating people to produce/Succeed is my biggest learning from the challenge of leadership.

Course: COL
Name: Paul Cullen

goals – stopped smoking ,I’ve become a better listener to my team, realise that training & upskilling is important just to name a few , Style flexing -awesome , the way LMA delivers the info that we required was excellent, The tools you guys have given us to use in the course can be used in any business and help achieve better results in anything that you do ?

This course has given me the tools to help become a successful supervisor/ manager. It has also helped make things clearer for change and innovation.

Course: COL
Name: John Preston

The ability to actually use what we had learned in real life scenarios, and then discuss how it went, and what we could do differently. My tasks complete throughout the day dramatically increased due to the use of HPA and Focus Goals/To Do Lists. I accomplished all goals I set which has allowed me to begin to set regular goals both work related and personal.

Course: COL
Name: Tate Cromie

Finding out what my real HPA’s are. I don’t know if it was the course, but I believe I am a calmer person when dealing with people.

Course: COL
Name: Andrew Long

I found areas of the course to be somewhat problematic due to my role not actually having any “direct” supervisory functions. However, I originally looked upon this as a constraint and an excuse to dismiss certain areas. As the course progressed, that barrier broke down quite quickly. I must say that looking back upon the whole course, I have gained enormous increases in confidence in regards to my professional dealings, be it with staff, or customers. There are general day to day skills such as “to do” lists that are now a basic part of my day to day planning that ensure that I have a greater level of control over my time and work. My win win goals I would consider as being of value, but from here I can really only look upon them as stepping stones to getting to where I am today. Being more goal focussed has struck home and I focus on longer term tasks with action steps to keep things rolling. Even completing the last few modules of the LMA course work. I am very appreciative of being able to take part and complete the course. I feel that I am taking away skills that are going to really assist my career and along the way add high value to my employer.

Course: COL
Name: Travis Murphy

I have truly learnt who I really am. A really good manager. An Out of the box thinker.

Course: COL

The interaction with others in a friendly learning environment. As a manager the course has helped me move forward, engage and continue to learn daily in both the way I deal with team members, and peers. The way I now complete a daily to do list, prioritise works and conduct day to day tasks such as HPA’s and LPA’s

Course: COL
Name: Phil McIntyre

The most enjoyable aspects of the course was the group interaction and problem solving as a team, although a little uncomfortable at first its a great way working as a team to get the best outcome. I feel I am more organised each week by daily to do list, delegating LPAs and following a weekly plan, The goals I have achieved through out the coarse have had some dollar impact with cement reduction program, time management and reduction in transport cost this has been very rewarding to myself and to Boral. This course has great learning experience for me and I have benefited from all modules In my role as production manager dealing with problem solving, time management and employee concerns to name a few this has given me some great tools and methods in these areas. My project has been very satisfying result as this has been a concern across our business for along period of time it will be very rewarding to see some feedback and results over the next 12 months, overall highly recommended coarse and very well presented

Course: COL
Name: Shane Satcunan

The best part of the course was the interaction and open discussion forum we had during each of the modules. This helped emphasise certain concepts and ideas which assisted in the learning. I found the having a To Do list and the progress of the win win agreement goals both business and personal help me achieve my goals and focus on HPA. These process have been imbedded as key concepts to the way I manage my time to be more effective. The course modules helped me relate each module to the way I interact and work with the people around me to lead them and me a leader and someone that can show them guidance in the way Boral is moving forward to Zero-One-Ten and their lean initiatives. This has not only allowed me to work on my weaknesses but also enhance skills I already had.

Course: COL

I was able to complete numerous workplace goals (Workforce planning, overtime, contract negotiations etc) from utilizing the time planning tools of the course. On a personal level, I was able to meet my fitness goals by keeping track of my focus goals every week and understanding that small steps together make huge progress.

Course: COL

The most enjoyable aspect of the course was the way it was structured to enable you to apply the theories and tools learnt in the workshops and from the modules in your position at work. In undertaking the course I have greatly increased my involvement with the teams I work with and have a greater understanding of how to drive them to achieve and delver desired outcomes and goals.

Course: COL

I found the methods used in the LMA course were exceptional, the workshops were a very good way to discuss and help to understand some of the course content. By participating in the course I have been able to make significant changes and improvements to what we do in our business on a daily basis.

Course: COL
Name: Carl Millen

I enjoyed being able to complete the workplace project. My greatest achievement was really a personal one, and that was giving up smoking. Even though it was personal, it still highlighted how powerful goal setting is, and how breaking the larger goal into smaller pieces makes the goal seem easier to achieve.

Course: COL
Name: Leonardo Appeldorff

The most enjoyable aspect about the course for me was the classroom interaction between different levels of employees from engineers to management. One of the most noticeable result for me was the way I begin to look at my team throughout the course, I now utilize there skill more to help me complete the daily roles in the workplace. The main goal accomplish during this course is the way I have been able to take a step back from hands on jobs and empowered team member to take up these new roles for themselves.

Course: COL
Name: Jonathan Knape

The most enjoyable part of the course were the results, tools learnt and behavioural changes. For me the main behavioural change is an attitude change, belief that I’m capable of achieving what I put my mind to. I was able to achieve improvements managing my time and spending more time on HPA’s, I completed a significant construction project and was able to utilise LMA tools to improve my management of the project.

Course: COL
Name: Chris Hatzis

The main thing for me was the setting up and then regular running of my work place project. The course provided a structured way for the project to get off the ground, and provided some good forms which acted as templates to make sure things stayed on track. Soft skills relating to people and behaviour in the work place came in very useful. I was able to reflect on some leanings when in a situation involving the management of people and emotions came up.

Course: COL
Name: David Kidd

The most enjoyable aspects of the course are attending the classes. I have learnt different techniques in how to approach situations at work – from conflict resolution to getting buy in from others when continuous improvement projects are being initiated. My biggest take away from this course would probably be learning how to priorities my time through working on “to do lists” and the associated HPAs. I believe the success I have achieved so far has been due to incorporating some of the various learnings from this course – these include successful completion of win win goals and my work place project.

Course: COL
Name: Jo-Anne Colbran

If it wasn’t for this course our Decorative Concrete Range would have ceased as their is no personnel available to have established the range and make the necessary changes. It has been a struggle to make the time to get this project to where it is and with Goals in place this project will be completed over the next couple of months. Also through this course I feel within myself that I have developed Leadership skills and have much more confidence in mentoring my team.

Course: COL
Name: Danielle Agius

The most enjoyable aspect for me was being able to meet in a group once a fortnight and discuss each other issues in the work place. I also enjoyed the practical assessments with the team. I remember being told at the course induction that one of the things LMA focus on is breaking habits that have been formed over many years. For me I believe this has helped in my management style as you start to think differently about things.

Course: HPM
Name: Christine Standfield

This course assisted me to uncover the concept of SalesLINK – a dynamic program built to engage and empower account managers. It helped me identify changes that were needed within our business to improve performance. It especially enabled me to build confidence in my own ability to manage others and drive team performance.

The interaction with others from different companies / workshops and the ideas Private and Business were all great as possibility listening brought new ideas to think about and implement. Measurable though training, project, focus goals, WBS and Gantt chart. I achieved all goals and am currently working on Excel

Course: HPM

Took my learnings and experience from completing the Cert IV in 2009 to the next level. Gave me a greater understanding of what leadership is about and how to get the best out of people. As I’m not currently the leader/manager of a team it was great to be able to create my own team to complete the course project and go back to working with a great group of people.

Course: HPM
Name: Lance Tobin

This course has prepared well me for the future , the benefits will come once in management position. The win/win goals are a great way to motivate yourself weekly to accomplish those little thing you would usually put to the side and never get done. I have had considerable improvements with time management and directing myself to concentrate on what’s important to me

Course: MHP
Name: Jason Brown

The course was a perfect fit to the much needed development stage of my team. I was thrust into a new role, aimed at extracting the knowledge and skills of the established supervisor team and developing them into a super high performing team for the sake of the longevity of the site. It showed all the right tools at the correct rate of progression to use them to quickly bring the team together, identify the priorities for success and motivate the to achieve more from less than they ever have before. This course was one of the most practically applicable course I have completed and the application of the tools to my team made it easy to turn a theory or intent of the tools into the practical application and a much better understanding as the why and how for each tool!
