Listening to others in the course (from all different work venues) we all have similar problems with staff. I learnt strategies to develop and implement changes to the ward’s processes. I also have learnt to delegate duties. Plus to be an active listener, and to manage conflict and also my attitude to the staff has changed. I am now more positive. I try and remain calm and not become emotional.

I enjoyed the course very much, it was very easy to relate to and I was often challenged to step out of my comfort zone. The main achievement for me was a gain of increased confidence in myself in this role, that, prior to the course I really didn’t have. I often referred to myself as just hanging on by my finger nails or flying by the seat of my pants. I don’t feel like that very often now. My delegation and motivation skills have increased, my team members are making comments about the change in me, the main thing they say is that I have stopped trying to please everybody, which at the time I was behaving like that was taking its toll. I have learnt a way to please most but also myself. I have started to go home on time more often than I used to which is Hugh for my family life. My work/family balance is a little better since the course. I have achieved something practical out of every module, some small some big.
