I have really enjoyed this course. To be honest, when I was enrolled I didn’t know what to think. I thought it may be a bit of a waste of time but I have found that I have learned a lot of really applicable methods to do certain things and ways of thinking. To mention a few – the important/imperative lists, the discussion planner, the focus goals, SMART goals etc. I have enjoyed the way in which Roger has presented the material too, with games and activities. He is a really pleasant and well spoken man who obviously knows his material very well. I have or will have completed all of my WIN/WIN goals by the first of December which I am very pleased about. They all focus on making our drafting department a more efficient place to work with a better working environment.

Course: SSTLS
Name: Samantha Hansen

It has revived my desire for goal setting and understandings of how important they are. Also learning that its the journey and learning along the way which is the success and development for myself as a person. I enjoyed learning the different tools to help assist in certain tasks such as Imperative/Important lists (to stop procrastinating) and get the jobs done most important first. Also learning what my HPA’s actually are, as I originally had a different view from that of my Manager. Organising my workload and time management, and passing my learnings onto my team members. Overall it has been an exciting and at times challenging experience which has helped me to think outside the box and further development my skills to become a successful Supervisor.

Course: SSTLS
Name: Dave McLeish

Improvement in organisational skills. I learnt some very helpful tools on time management and focussing on HPA’s. Also discovering what my HPA,s are and how they will improve my leadership capabilities.

Course: SSTLS
Name: Simon Roll

I have enjoyed the opportunity to identify the value of the tasks that I undertake each day, I have also enjoyed having the opportunity to share ideas and make contacts in different areas of the industry. My goals were writing effective short term plans and giving delivery schedules to suppliers. I have been able to effectively track the project and thus eliminate down time, double handling, the ability to make programme dates and foreseeing problems before they have arisen. Before I undertook this course I would always prioritise physical labour over planning and this course has identified to me the importance of planning and tracking projects effectively. The measurable results for myself that I have been able to identify is the time spent on LPA’s. I have delegated these LPA’s to other team members for there own development. This has given me more time to spend on my HPA’s and a greater return to Nilsen.

Course: SSTLS

An enjoyable good all round course well put together ,centred on setting goals. The most enjoyable aspects of the course were the problem solving activities during the workshops also being able to communicate with other work colleagues in a similar position to me. Measurable results w
ere easily identified , by entering the 7 day focus goals online & evaluating the progress within the workshop discussions. I have achieved some useful tactics from completing the course which I will employ throughout my daily work activities. Lastly it was good to be reminded that everyone needs goals to work towards, & what a great motivational tool it is!

Realising that I need to distance myself from the “tools” and concentrate more of my efforts on leading the team in a more effective manner. Therefore creating a better more skilled workforce that will respect my leadership abilities, and will be willing to support their growth and development within the company, Resulting in a better team and greater profits for the company

Course: SSTLS
Name: Adrian Loffler

I enjoyed the interactions that took place during the workshop sessions, sharing “best ideas” and discussing the course material and how our group would apply the material to our day to day roles. By adopting most of the tips for better time utilization especially the use of the imperative/ important list and identifying and focusing on my HPA’s I have found that I have been able to better manage my time and have been able to achieve more tasks. The biggest achievement that has taken place throughout the course is my attitude towards goal setting. I never set goals prior to undertaking the course, I achieved majority of my ideas, however I know now that having written goals instead of just ideas I have been able to achieve more at work but more importantly at home.

Course: SSTLS
Name: Steven Eitzen

The course gave me a lot to think about. It was great to catch up with others from the company in a similar position to me to see how they approach different aspect of the job. It gave me plenty of ideas to allow me to be more efficient and get the best out of the guys that work with me.

I believe learning about the WBS was a big success for me. I learnt this just before I had a month off from a job I was running, using a WBS made the hand over process a lot smoother and when I came back to site it was easier to get straight back in to it. I also feel learning about Negative feedback and how it can empower both myself and team members to do better has been very beneficial. The LMA program has been very easy to use.
