The course invited me to be ‘selfish’ and clearly identify and articulate my goals to my team leader. It provided me with an opportunity to discuss my goal progress with my mentor each fortnight which provided me with someone else to encourage me to continue to work on my goals. It helped me to clearly identify what was important to me in terms of my career path, for example I chose to forgo an opportunity to relieve as team leader in order to maintain direct client contact which will be more advantageous to meeting my goal of counselling in private practice.
